Dental Hygiene

During your dental hygiene appointment the hygienist will remove hard and soft deposits from your teeth, do a thorough periodontal evaluation and provide oral hygiene instructions to help ensure the health of your teeth and gums.

Subsequent appointments are custom designed for each of our patients to provide you with the specific and personalized care you need.

Periodontal Maintenance Program

v  Scaling and Root Planing (aka Deep Cleaning)
What is scaling and root planing?  Scaling removes calculus and stain from teeth.  Planing smoothes rough surfaces of roots which helps promote gum health.

v  Periodontal Maintenance
Periodontal maintenance is the cleaning of periodontal pockets which removes plaque and calculus from above and below the gumline.  To maintain optimal oral health, periodontal maintenance is performed once every three months.

v  Arestin
Arestin is an antibiotic powder that, when needed, can be comfortably placed in an unhealthy periodontal pocket to promote a reduction of bacteria.
